Amstrad CPC6128
A dear friend brought this computer for me on a trip from Spain, where these were much more common, together with a CPC464. It was known to be faulty.
Work done:
- Diagnose and replace faulty memory
- Clean-up previous repair job
RAM repair
Unfortunately, I didn't take proper pictures when I worked on this computer, but here is what I have.
One of the first things I noticed was that someone had worked on the RAM area before and had used a rather large bodge wire to repair some damage:
I used the fantastic Amstrad Diagnostics ROM by Noel Llopis to diagnose which IC was at fault and replaced with a new chip.
Cleaning
As usual, the keyboard and case needed a good cleaning:
After the repair and cleaning, the computer worked and looked perfect again:
