Amstrad NC-200

I purchased this amazing early portable computer from the UK to add to my collection of weird and wonderful Amstrad Portable computers (link / link). It was described as working, but with 'some' rust. Unfortunately, the corrosion damage turned out to be much worse than I expected.

Planned work:

• Rust clean-up
• Testing
• Battery springs replacement
• Floppy drive clean-up

Exterior inspection:

From the outside, the computer looked exactly as described on the auction site, dirty and rusty battery contacts:

But once I started to remove all the covers, some signs were starting to show that it wasn't just the battery compartment that was corroding:

Once I started to open up the case, it quickly went from bad to worse:
